Here are three factors that need to be considered for any business looking into carrier ethernet. 1. Location - You can check to see if your business is already in a fiber-lit building by using our Metro Ethernet location tool. This is dependent on whether a carrier ethernet service provider has already installed fiber optics, the medium of choice for carrier ethernet, to the building. Due to the costs involved, this takes time. The buildings that already have this type of connection are going to be in metropolitan areas, and the number of fiber-lit buildings will increase, so check back to see any updates in the future. 2. Bandwidth - Carrier ethernet is available in speeds from 10 mbps to 1 gigabit, which is great for businesses with lots of traffic, such as large file sharing, video demands, or data centers.
